I stumbled across this band about two years ago when they opened up for the supergroup, L.S. Dunes. I was blown away completely by their set and when they would announce a tour, I’d scramble to see if they were coming to Milwaukee. This was my third time seeing them and third time photographing them so I was stoked.

The first band to open up for the stage was local band, Rat Bath. I had seen them only once before but I knew they were going to get the night off to a good start. This band has such fun energy and catch-y sing along vibes that encourages crowd participation. I was very excited to see them again and vocalist Fred really knows how to post on stage. The whole band made for such amazing photos!

The second band to play was Vial. I’ve never heard of them, but I definitely loved watching them sing and dance around the stage. The long furby wrapped around the mic stand was a little creepy but the audience loved it. I don’t particularly like them because they creep me out. If you’ve seen the movie, “Mitchells vs. The Machines,”  you know what I’m talking about.

Finally, it was Pinkshift’s turn to dominate the room. Vocalist Ashrita, took the stage with such determination and gave a powerful speech regarding how the world is right now. It might be dark, scary, and messed up, but that’s not going to silence them, their music, or us. I admire her so much for the band and what they stand for. Pinkshift truly is on the rise to going places and they’re not slowing down any time soon. They put on a phenomenal performance and everyone in the room was moshing. My favorite track, “Burn the Witch,” of course was played towards the end and I know I was not the only one waiting for them to play it. It’s truly such a banging song. I cannot wait to see them next and what songs they bring us.
