Multi-genre band, Wind Walkers released their latest video, directed by Alex Kouvatsos, to coincide with their new track “Eating My Heart Out.” You can stream it on Spotify, watch it on YouTube, and hear it live out on the road in the U.S. through September. If you have some travel time saved up, you can also catch them in Japan the first few days in November.

Both the song and the video are collages of multifaceted sounds and images that draw you in with a poppy alternative intro and equally catchy verses that lead into a screaming, grab you by your throat, metal bridge to let you know they mean business, while literally feasting on a heart, the flesh that was sacrificed, at the dinner table.

Vocalist Trevor Borg says, “This song captures the guilt, feeling of distance and identity conflict that comes with life as a musician and being on the road. You can feel such a divide in identity, having to be what your career needs and who your family needs at the same time. I’m sure this song will resonate with people dealing with turmoil in a relationship, but I truly wrote the song to be a portrait of guilt in having uncertain dreams, with the intent to resonate with other artists and people who share the same conflicts. I also intended for it to serve as a message to the fans and lovers of music about the sacrifices that go into the art form they hold so dear to the heart.”

“Eating My Heart Out” is my introduction to Wind Walkers, a five piece band from Massachusetts, and I have to say this song resonated with me, especially the verse, “Crawl to you out of hell, as I live in the past, oh act like who I was before. You set me free cut me out of my bodybag (bodybag). You knew I was destined to be more.”

While I’m not a musician, I put a dream aside for many years and put other needs and expectations in front of it, making a part of who I was more of a hobby. Now that I’m trying to dust off that dream and step out further into the proverbial spotlight, there is definite guilt and inner conflict about time away from those other needs while trying to be who I wanted to be, was destined to be.

Ahhhh, the power of music. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more of these guys.
