Taylor Swift has been a huge force in the music industry, as well as pop culture as a whole, for almost 20 years. She has proven to be a music phenomenon of her own right and she has recently released her 12th studio album “The Life of a Showgirl” which she stated was written during her record breaking Eras tour and produced by Max Martin and Shellback who she had worked with before. It has a mixture of pop hits, dancing songs, and some heartbreaking songs such as eldest daughter and ruin the friendship that showcases her true writing abilities and lyricism. Other songs such as Opalite and Fate of Ophelia are some of the more often played songs with up beat sounds and catchy lyrics. This new album touches on feelings of friendship, loss, love, confidence, and everything in between, something Swift is known for. As a way to get fans ready for the release she dropped eight versions of the album on vinyl as well as four deluxe CDs with necklaces, bracelets, and keychains, as well as an orange cardigan box set and four versions of hand signed CDs all with hearts, which for collectors of her signed merchandise is a very sought after item. Although Taylor Swift has been in the music business for a long time and has many awards and accolades under her name, she continues to solidify herself as one of the greatest in the music industry time and time again. Saying all of this, the album did come with some criticisms which is true for almost every piece of art that has been put out, but the numbers still prove that she is at the top of the charts, receiving more and more records and that she is still at the peak of her musical career, breaking records at every turn. The album has a lot of historical references, as well as some comedic relief and a lot of topics that resonate with fans of all ages. As another way to get fans excited about the release she did a few interviews with late night hosts and had a movie premiere in select movie theater locations. In my personal opinion, and after listening to it a few times through, I can honestly say that it is a very happy album and that the happiness that she is feeling right now really shined through in her lyrics and even the photos and interviews.
