One of Fargo, ND’s most cherished music spaces is turning remembrance into celebration. The Aquarium, the city’s long-running, community-driven live music venue, has officially announced its first annual FONZ FEST, set to debut this March.
The festival will bring together a wide range of local and quite possibly touring artists for a showcase of the independent spirit, collaboration, and sense of belonging that have long defined the venue. The festival’s name carries a special meaning. “FONZ” is both a playful nod and a heartfelt tribute to the late Jeffrey Fonder, the venue’s beloved manager, whose warmth, humor, and tireless dedication helped shape The Aquarium into far more than just a stage.
To musicians, staff, and regulars alike, Fonder wasn’t simply a manager — he was a connector, a mentor, and the kind of soul you would come to see for a nice warm smile. People remember Fonder for his easygoing charisma and genuine care for the people around him.
Attendees can expect the intimate, high-energy shows The Aquarium is known for, along with special collaborations, surprise sets, and a natural extension of what The Aquarium has always been: a home base for creativity and connection.
As March approaches, FONZ FEST stands poised to become not just a new annual tradition, but a living memorial — one built on loud amps, crowded floors, and the kind of togetherness Fonder championed every day. Additional details, including dates, lineup announcements, and ticket information, will be released soon through The Aquarium’s official channels. In fact, they even announced low admission prices that are comparable to the early 2000s at $5 per attendee. What better way to kick off 2026 with great prices for even greater music! Either way, or we’ll be a grand time for everyone, all around.
