On February 18, 2026- Wilfredo who’s an independent alt-Latino artist released his new single “Say My Name” that’s filled with raw authentic emotions. The single feels like detonation is waiting to happen with how tense and isolating it feels. Listening to “Say My Name” gives an atmospheric soundscape that mimics fake smiles and hollow promises from those who are only there to deceive you. Wilfredo’s vocals is filled with rage, but also clarity. “Say My Name” is not a revenge single, but almost like a call out anthem for those who are so easily blinded by those who are fake.
Interviewer: Let’s start with the most basic question first. Can you give us some insight about who you are as an artist? Just a little background for new listeners!
WILFREDO: “I am an Alt-Latino Independent artist based in Los Angeles, CA. I’m a creative through and through and music is the art-form that I’ve had the closest connection with. I started young as a baby banging on pots and pans which helped convince my parents to buy me a tiny drum set. (I’m sure they were annoyed from all the noise.) I took one drum lesson at 7 years old and picked up other instruments along the way thanks to my curiosity. I was also a huge choir nerd in high school which helped me find my love for singing. Before then, I would have never sang in front of anyone.”
Interviewer: Can you explain a little more about your new single; “Say My Name” and why it was created for fans?
WILFREDO: “”Say My Name” was created after seeing people close to me betray others’ trust – along with my own. I’ve realized that some pretend to be close just so they can gain something from your relationship with them. In my opinion, I have nothing to offer besides my time and genuine friendship – which I don’t give out easily. So, I take it seriously when that is broken. It was created as a way to vent my frustration.”
Interviewer: What type of reactions are you looking for from fans with this new release?
WILFREDO: “I’m not sure if I’m looking for a specific reaction, to be honest. If anything, I’d like for listeners to have the confidence to stand up for themselves when others try to belittle them. Like, let it be known who you are. Take up the space you deserve and make them know and say your name.”
Interviewer: With creating this single; can you tell us a little more about the process of creating it?
WILFREDO: “The song came about pretty organically. I had a guitar riff sitting around and I really wanted to use it but, at the time, I was writing a lot of pop-punk. It didn’t really fit in any of the songs I was working with. One day, I was taking a shower and I randomly got the “W-I-L-F-R-E-D-O” chant in my head and thought “Maybe this fits with the riff I’ve been wanting to use” and it did – perfectly. The rest came about very easily thanks to KingCold and it felt like the song wrote itself.”
Interviewer: How would you describe the sonic identity of this single?
WILFREDO: “I would describe it as confident and resilient. Unapologetic.”
Interviewer: How does this track fit into your long term artistic vision?
WILFREDO: “Growth has always been important and that, to me, means going through different sonic eras. It was only a matter of time before I completely tore down what I used to do and did something totally different. I’m not scared of change. I’m terrified of writing the same type of music over and over again. I’m a huge fan of artists who sound totally different throughout the years. I look up to that ability and have so much respect for them.”
