On February 26, 2026– Hard rock artist; Marlene Mendoza released her electrifying new single “Take Me Alive” that has soft and heavier vocals that can capture the attention to fans who enjoy both vocal styles! “Take Me Alive” thrives on intensity and emphasizes the importance of not being trapped inside of your own mind. The contrast between both vocals in the single encapsulates the explosive lyricism the artist is expressing.
Interviewer: For new listeners, can you give us some insight about who you are as an artist? And what is your musical style?
Marlene: “I am a hardworking artist who creates from emotion. My music lives in that space between vulnerability and power. I’m drawn to cinematic, high-energy rock with emotional depth that feels explosive but personal. I want people to feel something real when they listen. It has to move you.”
Interviewer: With this new single release; do you feel like your creative process changed over time since your last release?
Marlene: “Yes, absolutely. I feel that I am getting more confident and fearless now. I trust my instincts
more, especially when something feels dark or uncomfortable. Before I might have softened certain ideas but now I lean into them. I’ve grown into allowing the intensity to exist without
apologizing for it. “‘Take Me Alive” reflects that evolution. It’s sharper, more direct, and emotionally unapologetic.”
Interviewer: Do you write from personal experience or storytelling?
Marlene: “It’s a pretty good mixture of both. Even when I’m storytelling, it’s rooted in something that I’ve felt or lived through. I might amplify it, dramatize it, or place it in a different narrative but the emotional core is still there.”
Interviewer: “Take Me Alive” is such an explosive and immersive single; can you tell me a little bit about the single and the central theme behind it?
Marlene: ““Take Me Alive” captures the moment when you feel cornered and everything is closing in on you. It can be from either expectations, external criticism or internal fear. The line “under penalty of perjury, how do you plead?” symbolizes judgement and the feeling of being put on trial having
to defend who you are. But the chorus is the turning point, “You won’t take me alive, I’m just here to survive.” That’s the refusal. That’s resilience. It’s saying you don’t get to define me. I’m still standing.”
Interviewer: When this single is released and you gain new fans, what are you hoping fans take away from this new release?
Marlene: “I hope they feel empowered in their own battles. Whether it’s critics, doubt, anxiety, or life
circumstances. I want new fans to feel like they can stand up and say, “You won’t take me alive.” If someone listens to it and feels empowered or strong, like they can confront something they’ve been avoiding or finally speak up for what they believe in, then I did my job. I want this song to be a soundtrack of courage for others. Even if it’s loud, messy or uncomfortable.”
