The End Of Man wasn’t created out of the blue. It was created for the love of music between musicians that’s been friends for nearly two decades. Jared, Josh, and RJ all grew up listening to classic rock that easily evolved into heavier music. They met Todd through a friend in the music scene and he became new drummer. The musicians wrote and performed those songs at shows, but life does happen sadly. The band went their separate ways, but fast forward to today and RJ decided to reach back out to Jared and Josh. They all agreed to start creating music again and reached back out to Todd and without hesitation he agreed to play drums again. One member was missing though. A vocalist. That’s when Shaun came into the picture and he decided to join the band
A few months ago, The End Of Man released a single “Together” off their EP The Descent that’s explosive with raw aggression that has fast a tempo that keeps the intensity rising throughout the whole single. The vocal performance is rough on the edges in the best way that truly encapsulates thrash-core in the best way
The band also just announced earlier this month that they are now part of MissedMerch, so make sure you check out their merch HERE!
The End Of Man will also be performing at Empire Live Albany on June 6 with The Lycan, At Lights Wake, Ailments, My Prophecy, and Blindsided. Get your tickets HERE!
Interviewer: How did the band first come together?
The End Of Man: “It all started 20 plus years ago when Jared Josh, RJ, Todd started jamming and realized their taste in music was very similar which created and unmatched chemistry of music. As 20 years passed life was happening and even though they weren’t in a band together they remained close friends and always shared and talked music.
Not to long ago RJ had been sick in the hospital and almost died. Spent almost a month on a ventilator. When he got out he wasn’t able to go back to work so he spent a lot of time playing guitar and writing riffs and that led to him reaching out to Jared, Josh and Todd to write music again.
The one thing they lacked was a badass front man to fill the role and it wasn’t long before a mutual friend told RJ about a guy named Shaun. RJ sent shaun a few songs we were working on and he was instantly hooked and nailed it at his first band practice and it was at that point we knew the band was complete.“
Interviewer: Where did the band name come from?
The End Of Man: “Our vocalist Shaun had some band names hes thought about for many of years and knowing we were officially a band and getting serious Shaun brought up the name The End Of Man and we all knew that was it.”
Interviewer: What themes naturally appear in your music?
The End Of Man: “Besides our upbeat rhythms killer breakdowns Shauns lyrics are usually focused on mental health. Anxiety, depression that sort of theme is constant in his writing style.”
Interviewer: How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard you before?
The End Of Man: “It’s got the elements of thrash with some groove metal mixed in with some Acacia Strain type vocals which delivers nasty breakdowns sprinkled on top. If you really listen there are hints of Jerry Cantrell and Ace Frehley as well.“
Interviewer: What bands or artists shaped your music the most?
The End Of Man: “There’s so much shit… Metallica, Pantera, Tool, Alice In Chains, Led Zeppelin, Kiss. Vocally it would be Chris Cornell, Mike Patten, Will Ramos, Chris Motionless, Phil Bozeman, The Acacia Strain, Enterprise Earth, The Amity Affliction.”
Interviewer: What makes your band different from others in your scene?
The End Of Man: “Each member brings a different style/layer of music and each member has such a different background. We try our hardest to be different from everyone else. Our live shows are very explosive and in your face which I think sets us apart.”
Interviewer: What kind of energy do you try to bring onstage?
The End Of Man: “High energy! Our vocalist is the most explosive, energetic, in your face frontman he can be! You paid for a show, we will give you a show!”
Interviewer: What keeps you motivated creatively?
The End Of Man: “Passion of music and wanting to write riffs that sound as good through the amps as they do in our heads. Shauns lyrics are focused on his struggles with depression and anxiety. The creation of music is our passion and our Outlet to our sanity.”
Interviewer: What’s one thing you’ve learned from being in a band?
The End Of Man: “Teamwork is key being able to listen to each other and understand what we want done and making it happen. We’re lucky to have such good chemistry. It helps a few of us have been playing together forever.”
Interviewer: What’s next for the band?
The End Of Man: “Keep writing music, keep playing shows, we have an EP coming out at the end of August with a EP release show, we also have new merch coming out for the EP and we looking to shoot our first music video sometime in the near future.“
Interviewer: What do you want new listeners to remember after hearing your music?
The End Of Man: “We hope they remember the lyrics and how heavy we are, how different we are. The face melting thrash riffs and heavy breakdowns!“
