Interview with progressive metal band Off//Earth from Potsdam NY!

Off//Earth is band that is filled with dedication and emotionally driven to create a foundation of love for music for their fans to be able constantly keep them on their toes full of anticipation. The band creates music that is consumed by ambition and confidence that has resonance through the lyricism and instrumentation

Interviewer: How did the band first come together?

Off//Earth: “We began as a studio project, with the goal to write an album under the concepts of exploring the soul. We have been incrementally building the sound, concepts and songs since 2023. Our album “I’ve Lived 1,000 Lives” was finished summer of 2025. What became a studio project and quickly shifted to a live band upon the release of the album. We played out first show March 28th 2026.”

Interviewer: Where did the band name come from?

Off//Earth: “Hard times, which reunited friends, and a desire to do something other than the routines, was the kindling for Off//Earth. A desire to escape and be off//earth.

Interviewer: What themes naturally appear in your music?

Off//Earth: “Law of attraction, the soul is eternal, failed relationships, aliens, personal resilience, life/loss.”

Interviewer: How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard you before?

Off//Earth: “Atmospheric, progressive, brutal, experimental.

Interviewer: What bands or artists shaped your music the most?

Off//Earth: “Five guys with five different but similar longtime metal, rock, indie backgrounds make up off//earth. Personal influences: Misery Signals, BTBAM, Gojira, Norma Jean, Coheed and Cambria, Def Leppard, Korn, Acid Bath, Slayer, Currents, Animals as Leaders.

Interviewer: What makes your band different from others in your scene?

Off//Earth: “12 song offering on our debut album with concepts NEVER HEARD IN METAL. Throwing the rule book out the window, you’ll be pressed to fit us into an box, or label us any one genre. We want people to connect with it, and tell US what we are….

Interviewer: What kind of energy do you try to bring onstage?

Off//Earth: “Engaging, five guys going 1000%, whether it be for 2 people or 100 people, expect off//earth to take you off//earth.”

Interviewer: What keeps you motivated creatively?

Off//Earth: “Five creative guys overfilled with desire to explore the concepts, to share, grow and challenge each other as friends and musicians to create the best songs we can where we are at in the moment.”

Interviewer: What’s one thing you’ve learned from being in a band?

Off//Earth: “Honesty best serves the project, accountability, hard work, and openness to serve the song makes for the best end result. The music reflects the intention and brotherhood that grows through the work.”

Interviewer: What’s next for the band?

Off//Earth: “Shows, music videos, end of summer new live single release, and recording Off//Earth 2 in the winter…

Interviewer: What do you want new listeners to remember after hearing your music?

Off//Earth: “We want people to feel empowered, to explore themselves, to live this life to the fullest and grow and learn from any and all experience.
