Two of the most heavenly recognized voices in the music industry arrived at Truliant Amphitheater in Charlotte, NC. Kali Uchis took the stage in front of a sold out crowd along with special guest Mariah The Scientist. The stage setup projected 3 large LCD screens showcasing dream-like theatrical visuals. Truliant Amphitheater lit in pink as thousands of fans showed up in the color to match Kali’s aesthetic.
First to open the night was Mariah The Scientist who came out in pink attire and the cheers began to echo throughout the venue. The Atlanta native performed “2 You” a song off her album, “RY RY WORLD” which produces a melancholic beat with soft bass drums that captures the message of letting a significant other go in a spiraling relationship. The track resonated with the audience in attendance many of which came as couples and they sang along to the vulnerable track with Mariah.
She couldn’t leave the stage without performing fan favorite, “Is It a Crime,” a track featuring Kali Uchis from her most recent album release, “HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY.” She instructed the crowd “if you know this song sing it with me.” The crowd without skipping a beat began to sing just as passionate as Mariah as the beat dropped. Hearts around the venue poured out the lyrics emphatically as it ties with the idea of falling in love and ignoring all the remarks and critics that try to diminish it. The slow moody production blended perfectly with Mariah’s smooth and soothing vocals.

The crowd went ballistic as Kali Uchis came out in her vibrant pink corset with glittered ripped jeans and a surrounding angelic aura. She began singing her smooth vocals to “Moonlight” with dancers surrounding her as they added a pleasing fluidity to the show. The Colombian-American megastar performed a catalogue of hits that included “Labios Mordidos, “Muevelo“, “Dead To Me” and many more. The bilingual artist has the unique ability to blend both spanish and english lyrics in her music, a nod to her native roots.
One of the emotionally heavy highlights of the night occurred when the venue went dark and the LCD screens projected a vintage film of Kali in her younger years. Additionally, the video featured shots of other Latin Americans as Kali’s voice narrated along with powerful statements of the harsh reality immigrants face living in the United States. The montage concluded with Kali voicing, “without immigrants, there’s no America” followed by a roar of cheers from the crowd that could probably be heard from the parking lot!
The grammy winning artist would continue to change attire throughout the night in particular to one outfit that displayed her beautifully in a full head to toe pink dress that radiated throughout the venue. Kali would continue to perform “After The Storm,” an uplifting song that motivates you to continue pushing through whatever hardship you may be facing. She ended the night with fan favorite hits, “I Wish You Roses” and “telepatia.” The latter of which is a dreamy spanglish track that navigates the topic of maintaining a romantic fantasy despite facing long distance difficulties.
The performance overall was very cinematic from beginning to end. It’s no wonder fans have been eagerly awaiting for this tour to come across their city. Kali Uchis delivered a confident display of her artistic craftsmanship as a performer. From the setlist to choreography, screen visuals, and fan interactions it was an electrifying tour performance that will be engraved in the memory of every audience member in attendance.
