The metalcore genre thrives on emotionally driven lyricism and explosive instrumentation that’s unpredictable. And that’s what Omen//Skye is all about.

The band recently released “Cry The White Lie” is a single that captures deceit and those who don’t take accountability of their actions. The contrast between the both heavier and clean vocals represents the emotional turmoil of anger and finally coming to the understanding that society will constantly tell us lies. “Cry The White Lie” has an atmospheric tone that brings the listener on a journey of denial and dishonesty that spills over into other people’s lives which causes chaos.

Interviewer: How did the band first come together?

Nick Troisi: “I first met Dillon at a Born of Osiris / Veil of Maya show in 2022. We hit it off right away and became good friends. Around Christmas 2022 he told me that he was interested in starting a band. Dillon was the drummer and they already had a guitarist and bassist. What they really needed was a vocalist. I practiced for about 2 weeks and auditioned with “Laid to Rest” by Lamb of God. They offered me the job. That was January 2023.

Interviewer: Where did the band name come from?

Nick Troisi: “Josh came up with the name! It’s derived from Sleep Token lyrics!

Interviewer: What themes naturally appear in your music?

Nick Troisi: “Mental health, relationships, heartbreak, despair, cosmic horror and the state of the world as we see it.

Interviewer: How would you describe your sound to someone who’s never heard you before?

Nick Troisi: “We achieve a great blend of classic metalcore with a modern, sometimes thall like sound. Killswitch Engage meets Humanity’s Last Breath.”

Interviewer: What bands or artists shaped your music the most?

Nick Troisi: “Killswitch was Josh’s (rhythm guitar) favorite band growing up. My favorite vocalists were Randy Blythe, Jake Luhrs, and Corey Taylor.

Interviewer: What makes your band different from others in your scene?

Nick Troisi: “We’ve tried to go above and beyond to make our live performances professional and memorable. Our merch displays pride for the Maryland Metal scene as well. We’ve tried to cultivate an eclectic sound that really stays with the listener.

Interviewer: What kind of energy do you try to bring onstage?

Nick Troisi: “Red Hot. Explosive 🧨💥🤯🔥

Interviewer: What keeps you motivated creatively?

Nick Troisi: “I’ve been in love with music in all forms since a very young age. My love of music in general keeps me wanting to create, learn, adapt and improve.”

Interviewer: What’s one thing you’ve learned from being in a band?

Nick Troisi: “Being in a band is incredibly hard work. Thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of free time go into those 30 minute set times you see on stage.

Interviewer: What’s next for the band?

Nick Troisi: “New music! 3 more releases for this EP then on to the next!

Interviewer: What do you want new listeners to remember after hearing your music?

Nick Troisi: “We’re just a group of guys that took our love for live music and brought it to the stage for others like us to enjoy. If we can do it, so can you!
