This tour was completely sold out across the U.S. due to the highly anticipated return of the original singer. Lacey Sturm. Flyleaf performed at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC on July 9, 2026! Fans have been eager to see her perform since 2012. I know I definitely was. It was packed and full of nostalgic fans. Every band had an individual sound and also very nostalgic feel. The vocal power and constant moving crowd, mixed with the uplifting messages from each band. Made it feel so comforting.

Tonight was my first time seeing any of these bands. I haven’t heard of the first two opening bands. I love experiencing new music. Smile Empty Soul took the stage and had such a unique sound. Sean Danielson’s voice was gritty and well balanced. The band has three people and it works. They put everything they had into their stage presence and vocals. The sound seemed to remind me of a mixture of Creed and Reliant K. Very post grunge with powerful vocals and fan based atmosphere. With constant engaging conversations with the fans. It was definitely a community based experience.

Heal The Hurt took stage before Flyleaf. The raw emotion this named gave the audience turned into such a meaningful experience. The sound of this band was more of an aggressive metal-core sound. In between songs they spoke about mental health struggles and spirituality. Trevor Tyson’s stage presence was intense in the best of ways. As always the Fillmore is a wonderful venue. The box office and workers there are so helpful and friendly. Putting safety first for everyone in the venue. Even when the concerts are sold out, it’s still the most spacious and comfortable place to be. I enjoyed seeing and capturing this concert. The first two bands had everyone in such a great mood for the headliner.

I’m 33 years old. Flyleaf has been around for about 24 years. I have waited so long to see this band. I remember in 2002 when they started getting bigger. Fully Alive was the main song during church camp. Her voice is so unique and beautiful. They the breakout success of I’m so sick in 2005 and All around me. This band had so many fans, religious and nonbelievers too. There was such nostalgia and excitement about her return. It’s been 20 years and they still have it. The fast paced music. Lacy’s stage presence is so captivating. Such intense energy. I knew the crowd was ready for Flyleaf. When the lights dropped. Crowd surfing started. Before the band even took the stage. This was such a different experience for me. But as a teenager going to church, I knew how much of a difference this band made in the scence. And they will continue to inspire so many teen’s.
