Opium duo HXG, Meechie and Beno!, released their explosive new single, “Versus,” via Opium/Interscope Records on August 28. Built for maximum impact, the track combines heavy drums, head-banging 808s, and a relentless trap production with a frenzied back-and-forth between the duo. From the opening moments, the infectious single establishes an unforgiving energy that flows throughout the entire track. Meechie and Beno! exchange rapid-fire deliveries, ad-libs, and references of their come up, while providing a strong central message of loyalty stating, “pick a side and stay there.”
“Versus” follows a busy schedule of appearances throughout the summer from the Atlanta duo. HXG have had successful high-energy performances at festivals including Clout Festival, Beach, Please!, Rolling Loud Orlando, and Splash! Festival. Additionally, the continue their international growth with a recently sold-out show in London. Meechie and Beno! further established their signature rage-rap sound following the release of their 25-track project, Homixide Lifestyle 2, released in 2025. The project features collaborations with notable Opium artists Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely. Production along the project includes contributions from Pi’erre Bourne, Wakeup F1LTHY, Maaly Raw, Section 8, DJ Moon, ATL Jacob, and more. The album incorporates an aggressive production infused with guitar riffs, distortion, and a menacing lyrical delivery.
HXG have emerged from Atlanta’s underground rap scene with a relentless ambition that continues to fuel their rise. Meechie and Beno! have pushed their sound forward and built a movement on their own.
