Acclaimed East Oakland rapper, songwriter, and producer Ovrkast. has released his new video single “KNOCK” featuring MAVI and Samara Cyn, available now via three times LOUDER. The release arrives as Ovrkast. builds anticipation for his forthcoming album, STRIKING, releasing October 9. On “KNOCK,” Ovrkast. reunites with frequent collaborators MAVI and Samara Cyn for a candid exploration of the pressures and exploitative realities of the music industry. Set against a playful, jazz-heavy instrumental, the three artists trade verses in a conversational exchange, balancing sharp observations with the chemistry that has become central to their collaborative work.
On the other hand, the accompanying music video brings that conversation to life. Ovrkast., MAVI, and Samara Cyn appear seated together at a table, delivering their verses directly to one another before turning their attention toward the camera. Scenes transition between city streets, brick walls, and intimate table shots, creating a stripped-back visual that complements the track’s reflective yet playful energy.
“KNOCK” follows “PANE” as the latest release in Ovrkast.’s ongoing rollout for STRIKING. The highly anticipated album is set to arrive October 9 and will feature additional appearances from Joey Bada$$, Marco Plus,and more. The new project follows an active year for Ovrkast., who has continued expanding his influence as both an artist and producer. Over the past year, he executive produced and appeared on Samara Cyn’s Detour EP, secured a placement on “Make Them Pay” from Drake’s ICEMAN, brought the Khufu Najee-directed Striking short film to screenings in Los Angeles and Oakland, and contributed production to Vince Staples’ latest album, CRY BABY.
Ovrkast. enters this next chapter following the critical success of his 2025 sophomore album, While The Iron Is Hot. Featuring Vince Staples, Samara Cyn, Saba, MAVI, Malaya, and Frsh Waters, the project showcased his signature production alongside introspective lyricism and earned recognition from Rolling Stone, The FADER, and Hypebeast. The album was also included on Billboard’s “The 50 Best Albums of 2025 (So Far),” while Ovrkast. received Billboard’s July Rookie of the Month honor. After closing out 2025 on the road opening for Saba’s The Big Picture Tour, Ovrkast. began 2026 with “Wata” featuring Niontay, an upbeat evolution driven by sharper, modern percussion, followed by “PLAY THIS,” a defiant track addressing those attempting to take credit for his progress.
Originally envisioned as a deluxe edition of While The Iron Is Hot, STRIKING ultimately developed into a completely new body of work over the course of a year and a half. Ovrkast. refined the project during a week-long writing camp in Los Angeles and ultimately expanded the project’s creative circle.
With “KNOCK,” Ovrkast. continues to establish the foundation for STRIKING, bringing together inventive production, introspective writing, and a growing network of collaborators. The new single sets the stage for what promises to be one of his most ambitious releases to date.
