On January 16, 2026- Don’t You Dare released “Black & Blue” that expresses the raw emotions from loving someone that’s toxic. The song title can be seen as a metaphor because it can represent being marked by trauma. Being bruised doesn’t have to be physical, but it can be internal meaning feeling grief or sadness. Throughout the single; the vocals are filled with resilience and strength that represents survival and knowing that these experiences will allow you to learn more about yourself.
“‘BLACK & BLUE’ is about feeling used and drained by someone you love. It’s about finally accepting that feeling, and how sadness can slowly turn into anger. It was a hard song to write, but a beautiful experience seeing those raw, haunting emotions come to life.” – Duarte
