Instantly the tone was set starting with the track, time (a deferred dream), a creative song that brings a sense of alertness and urgency with the use of phone alarms and clocks to go along with the jazz and soulful instrumental. Speaking of clocks, a song that rolled back the time was Soulfood, one of Redveil’s early releases that is highly recognized for the heavy use of soulful samples and a melodic beat which would become a staple of his sound in his productions.

Then came one of Redveil’s most anticipated tracks, pg baby, a high-energy anthem that gained Redveil a lot of notoriety. The smooth jazz, self produced track had the whole venue head-bobbing and rapping his lyrics word for word. The whole venue was waiting on this one. People jumping up and cheering as the first note hit. The song is a successful track from his album learn 2 swim, a project that really showcased his songwriting talent.

The atmosphere was vibrant and the crowd was glued onto Redveil as he took you for a ride again into Sankofa with one of the most popular songs on the album, pray 4 me. An emotionally intense banger that reveals one of Redveil’s most passionate verses and vocals to date. The jazz-infused production mixed with the catchy background vocals is a fan favorite as a song that anyone could resonate with. Redveil’s raw lyrics in this track highlights the pressures of social media, struggles of mental health, and the hopefulness to achieve success.

Redveil may not have the typical rap show most fans are used to when they first think of hip-hop shows. Mainly now embodied by high energy production and a heavy 808s sound but that’s what makes Redveil a breath of fresh air artistically. His warm, soulful production takes you back to a sound you would hear in the earlier decades. The young artist is carving his own path in a world full of rappers and but with his creativeness he is merely scratching the surface of his potential.
