On February 27, 2026- Morning In May released their new single “Midnights In Malibu” encapsulates numbness due to not being able to escape from certain situations, but there is always something that gives you sanctuary. Listeners will be able to resonate to this song because a “home” could be several things and that it’s okay to move forward in your life to find it.

Interviewer: For new fans; can you give us some insight about the band and what type of musical style you have?

Morning In May: “The band has been around and touring for several years now, most recently with The Red
Jumpsuit Apparatus. Our musical style is very similar to theirs overall. We strive to find some happy medium between active rock and emo/screamo. Sort of like Nu Emo or something
entirely different, yet familiar.”

Interviewer: “Midnight in Malibu” feels vulnerable, but yet has a sense of humor behind it; can you tell us
more about it? And the main theme you tried capturing with the single?

Morning In May: “The song’s about the reluctance to go home. There’s been times in my life where I’ve been
trying to escape from situations and people residing in my car. I really feel like sometimes we spend so much time running around subjects and confrontations. My car was an escape as well as a numbing agent. I felt like the duality of riding around in my Chevy Malibu and a beachside
escape seemed perfect to satire.”

Interviewer: The official music video was also released; Did you have a clear vision from the start, or did it
evolve during production?

Morning In May: “We went into that shoot with a pretty fleshed out treatment we had drafted beforehand
and pretty much knew exactly what we wanted to do. Initially, we knew it had to have the car, the Chevy Malibu that the song is actually about, in the video. Then we started playing with
ideas about how to incorporate a therapy session with Rorschach tests and a Malibu vacation and the story came from there.”

Interviewer: How would you describe the visual tone or aesthetic of this video?

Morning In May: “Fun and light hearted yet serious and melodramatic. The color scheme is very blue and pink
which matches the overall color scheme aesthetic of the band. It’s intercut with shots of Rorschach tests projected onto the band to highlight the emotional duality for the story.,”

Interviewer: Was there a particular lyric that was important to highlight visually in the music video?

Morning In May: “Obviously the car, the Chevy Malibu, from the line “Midnights In Malibu” haha.”
