Currents and Erra show at Channel 24 Sacramento

On Friday April 10th 2026 Current’s and Erra played at Sacramento’s newest venue on their co-headline tour. Erra recently released a new album Silence Outlives the Earth on March 6th,2026 and Current’s released an Ep All That Follows on October 31, 2025. Erra and Currents are two bands almost cut from the same cloth. They are two of the better known progressive metalcore bands leading the scene, both mixing rhythm guitars that are both intricate and groovy as well as atmospheric and chaotic making you feel a plethora of emotions.

Being the first band to open is no easy task as you have to set the tone and energy and let me tell you they delivered. The First band of the night was Swedish metacore band Aviana. From the moment they walked on there was a certain theatrical aspect about them. The singer walked out with intention and took his place on center stage The frontman Joel Holmqvist commands the front with raw power. Behind him three masked figures with no faces or names just silhouettes that go by Death,Fear and Dark. The sound delivered is traditional djent riffs and brutal breakdowns mixed with cinematic and haunting atmosphere. What was delivered was an entertaining performance that felt almost ritualistic. I loved how interactive the masked members were they played to the atmosphere such as the lights and were high energy the whole time even the drummer would get up and move to the music. My personal favorite part was when the guitarist bend over backwards almost like an exorcism and continued to play guitar while doing so.

The second band of the night was Caskets the melodic metalcore band from Yorkshire, England. It was a definitely a different energy compared to Aviana almost like a breather in a good way. They maintained the high energy with very good interaction with the crowd and amongst themselves. Something that is almost lost now a days with performances to me they did not feel like they were just clocking in, they actually looked like they were having fun and it showed. On top of having great energy the singer was very likeable he commanded the crowd with his charisma and catchy choruses. The songs themselves felt very vulnerable and open they are not afraid of wearing their heart on their sleeves. They recently released an album on November of 2025 titled The only Heaven You’ll know.

The third band of the night was Erra one of the bands that has led the way in their genre progressive metalcore. They just came out with their 7th studio album Silence outlives the art on March of 2026. As soon as they hit the stage they came out swinging with the song Gore of Being, an energetic song with their signature groovy yet complex riffs that sets a tone of what to expect. The way best way to describe their music is surgical technicality on instrumentals mixed with the raw emotions of the vocals nothing feels overdone. The vocals are a perfect mix with the main vocalist provides the harsh vocals that brings aggressions and energy mixed with the emotional singing of the guitarist that creates an atmospheric feel. As a guitarist myself I can’t help but feel inspired and in awe at how easy they make their playing look. Another noteworthy thing to look out for in their live show is their light production it was the cherry on top. I would definitely watch them again I did have to watch my back a few times for the crowd surfers.

The final band and the star of the show was Currents a Connecticut based metalcore band. They do an amazing job of bridging the gap of the genre, being both technical enough for the djent crowd and melodic enough for the crowd to sing along. The first song of the night was So Alone and it wastes no time in punching you in the face it got the crowd going, I immediately had to watch my back from the crowd surfers while taking photos because this band did not come to play around. (shout out to the security team at Channel 24 for always warning us). They were up there to prove that they deserve to headline and be on that stage which no one could and quickly switching back and forth with melody something they are masters of. My personal highlight was when the guitarist Chris Wiseman locked eyes with me and posed for the camera seeing someone I admire do that for me left a warm feeling because he didn’t have to do that. Currents has been around but after this tour I think they will only get bigger which is much deserved.
