On Wednesday April 22, 2006; The Goldfield Trading Post in Roseville, CA was taken over by Bleed From Within an act that hails from Glasgow. It was my first time at the venue at first glance one notices how quaint it is and can tell this show is about to get close and personal. There were pillars by the bar with wrapping around them almost like a punching bag and from many concerts I could tell this is were the moshpits would happen. It did indeed end up being an intimate show.

The first band to get the crowd going was Life Cycles a band from San Antonio Texas. I have been seeing a recent trend of bands coming out from Texas and they have been on a role and this band is no exception. Like most openers they came out the gate with a foot to the face! They got that crowd moving the best way I can describe their sound is a mix between thrash and hardcore metal. A notable moment personally was the singer interacting with me and getting up close and personal. They are on tour promoting their newest Ep “No One Escapes Death” that has a feature from their touring partner Sylosis and the famous Matt Heafy from Trivium.

The next band on the line up is Great American Ghost. From the moment they come out its straight rage and organized chaos but what was interesting is the vocals almost sounded more of protest or demonstration. My assumption was proven correct when I noticed the back of his jacket with a political statement. When listening to this band live it felt like they never let up there was no “Nice song” it was straight rip from beginning to end. My favorite part of their performance was how energetic it was. It is one of the smallest stages but the singer Ethan Harrison used every single bit of it and then some. He was constantly going on the barricades on top where the drummer was and jumping down at one point he climbed over me and rubbed my shoulders lol. The most notable thing Ethan did was go in to the crowd and start the moshpit he also crowd surfed while screaming. I can appreciate the bands energy and showmanship. They are also on tour promoting their latest album “Tragedy Of The Commons (reconstructed) released March 19th.

The third band of the night are no strangers to the scene they are very much veterans and have toured with countless metal acts. I had the pleasure of seeing them the tour before this opening up for Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine. Anyone that has been around the metal scene might have heard the name Sylosis and in the guitar community the name Josh Middleton. He is the driving force of the band he is the writer, producer, lead guitarist AND vocalist. I have also personally seen him pack up and transport his own gear after the set this man does it all did I mention he also finds time to play in the band Architects. The drummer form Bleed From Within is also the drummer of Sylosis doing double work. Drumming is already physically demanding but playing in two bands for almost two hours is insane. Sylosis is one of those rare bands that everyone in metal can appreciate despite a divide in genres. You know you will always get an amazing show out of Sylosis.

Last but not least is a veteran band who has been around for 20 plus years, the metal scene is weird but NOW they are getting the credit they deserve! How often do you hear a band from Glasgow make it out of there and into the states as a successful metal band. It didn’t come easy this band has put in the work! They are touring for their latest album “ZENITH” that came out April of 2025. What you get from their live performance is bandmates that are just having fun and relaxed, professional sound, and unwavering confidence. Needless to say their show was so good and addicting that I gave my friend the camera to hold and went in the pit. I have two memorable moments from this band, One the lead singer acknowledged me and pointed at my camera, which shows they are still humble. The second and not so great and great is going in the pit for them. It was so hype I had too and ended up hyperextending my knee and not able to walk for 2 days but hey its the price of having fun. Bleed from within is a headliner now but to me they are not long for getting even bigger!
