On May 29, 2026- Queer artist, Lauren Sanderson released her self-titled album, Lauren that might be the loudest anthem for the queer community and captures the essence of combustive energy that makes the listener want to continue listening to each song on repeat. Being a queer person myself, I found this album relatable and to be able to resonate with an artist through music and Lauren having such a carefree soul will give other listeners a voice they might not have. Lauren is the rockstar mom we all needed to be able to express ourselves in ways and not have an ounce of care about other peoples opinions. Lauren Sanderson’s vocal soundscape resembles other artist’s such as; Missy Elliot, Limp Bizkit, P!nk, and so much more.

I knew exactly what I was doing on this album.. and I did it anyway. This is that ‘blow your speakers out, makeout with that girl in the bathroom, drive too fast down the highway’ album. That’s LAUREN.” – Lauren Sanderson

Come Say Sum” is one of my favorite singles off this album because it was the first song I ever heard from the artist. This single starts the album with explosive energy that’s perfect to start a mosh pit to. Lauren vocals are filled with confrontation, sarcasm, and raw aggression to the point it makes you feel intimidated. Her vocal performance is loud, unpredictable, and filled with violent momentum that carries throughout the whole sing with the instrumentation enhancing every emotion.

Come Say Sum” is the true meaning of not having restraint and making sure other’s know that you mean business. The single has such a cathartic release with how much tension builds up from the second it starts to the very ending

Shut Up & Kiss Me” is intimate and seductive in the beginning with the soft vocals that lures the listener in slowly like prey waiting for something to pounce on it. The single represents emotional honesty, flirtation, and confrontation because the narrator knows what she wants. And she will get what she wants. The chorus is carefree and straightforward to the point that no one will ever question what the narrator is expressing. “Shut Up & Kiss Me” reminds me of a dominant and brat relationship that embraces a high energy dynamic that’s built directness, thrill, and needs.

Possessive” is another infectious single that’s filled with confrontation and drips confidence. The emotionally driven lyricism captures the intense feeling of becoming obsessed and the narrator will do everything in their power to have that full control. The pulsating and atmospheric soundscape enhances the compelling meaning behind the lyrics and Laurens vocal performance is bold, determined, and defiant all at the same time. The official music video is filled with seduction and temptation that will have listeners wanting more.
