When you think of an artist playing with their fans using Easter eggs or hints about what is coming next for their work, who’s comes to mind? What about the Americana/Country music artist Tyler Childers?!
The last album Tyler Childers released was “Rustin in the Rain” in September 2023 with seven songs, a couple being covers. There were some whisperings of a new album coming soon but no confirmation, until banners with a web address for a “Hickman Holler Hunting Club” started appearing in cities like Nashville and New York a bit ago. When fans went to this website they were directed to sign up for emails from Tyler’s store. Soon after this a new Instagram under the same name appeared with only a post of the banners and little to no followers.

This quickly sparked some interest of his fans, as it showed he had something planned soon. Later that week he deleted all of his posts on his Instagram page and the next day, posted a very short video with a lot of hints pointing to old unreleased songs and also familiar songs with a mention of the “Hickman Holler Hunting Club” the video also stared Casey Campbell, a regular actor in some of Tyler’s earlier music videos. The caption was titled “Thursday, June 12th” and no one knew what to predict.
All of Childers fans woke up on a Thursday morning to an announcement of a new album titled “Snipe Hunter” set to release date on July 25, 2025. It will have thirteen songs on the track list (this is important later on in this review) and only one song has shared right now, a song called “Nose On The Grindstone,” the first single from this new album. Fans of Childers very quickly recognized this song as sort of an anthem of Tyler Childers, a song he wrote in the beginning of his career and one he sings at almost every show on his tours, including his current tour, “On The Road.” It is a very intense and emotional song touching on topics of addiction, hard work, and forgiveness. Now it’s been made even more memorable with the gritty and raw voice of Tyler Childers. This single was re-released for this new album premiering with a new music video, showing Tyler with his guitar in an open field next to a bonfire. Later, he is joined by a band mate Kory and an organ, adding an extra level of emotion, depth, and heart to this already familiar song.

All these changes give the song a more polished and perfected sound where as the older version was more raw and unfiltered. There is no doubt this will be a very brilliant new album from the Kentucky native and his band “The Food Stamps” that fans will absolutely adore, hopefully with some fan favorite unreleased songs added in. This thirteen song track list is very interesting and surprising however because Tyler has said and confirmed in an interview that his albums have been a count down from the beginning, each one having one less song and when he gets to his last album he will retire, therefore all of his fans were expecting a six song album so it was very shocking he had so many songs on this track list.
Fans will now have to wait until July to see what songs have made the cut and if there are any other remastered songs. The album is now able to be preordered and saved on his official store and streaming services, with the music video being available on YouTube.
