On June 10, 2026- Underoath performed at The Radio Room in Greenville, SC with special guest; Held. The outside of the venue had a line that I felt like wrapped around the whole building and more. There were fans jumping up and down in excitement because Underoath is one of those bands that made our early 2000’s memorable and filled with joy through their music. The show was sold out and you can sense every emotion through the attendees without them even vocalizing anything. Their eyes captured the true authentic emotions and honestly I could never express it into words. As the crowd started to enter the venue; it was dimly lit, but it had an atmosphere of acceptance that lit the room with inclusivity.

Held opened the night and I think what I researched is that it’s a newer band with members of The Sleeping and Coheed and Cambria. The band consisted of three members and even though Held is new; the crowd embraced them with excitement and high dynamic energy that lasted the whole set. I went outside to take a breather because it was so hot in the venue and you could literally feel the ground shaking just by people screaming, jumping, and the artists on the stage feeding into the frenzy. Watching their set was like being transported back to the early 2000’s due to their music embracing post-hardcore vibes that made myself and other attendees nod in approval throughout their whole set.

Finally it was time to see a band that is the definition of nostalgia in my opinion and once Underoath stepped onto the stage it felt like a tidal wave of excitement washed over the whole venue. The venue is small and intimate; so no matter what you were next to someone singing along to every song, friends singing to each other, and of course you had attendees creating their own mosh pits to unleash some energy that they had. Underoath is considered veterans in the music scene and their set was so cathartic that it almost felt euphoric and immersive. The room was so packed that it was impossible to navigate to get photos due to not wanting to be in the way of an attendee and respecting everyone’s space, so I got the shots that I could and just took in the thrill of seeing a band that I’ve been listening to for years. There was no barricade at this venue, so that made the event even more memorable for some attendees to be front and center at the stage. Spencer (vocalist) was so chaotic and erratic on the stage. He engaged with attendees constantly from front to back and made sure everyone felt welcomed. When the band performed “Reinventing Your Exit” you can see the attendees have some sort of an emotional release that radiated off of their body because this song is nostalgic and made some us feel like we transported to simpler times. Overall the performance was mind blowing and the band created a community that packed the room completely.
