To Write Love On Her Arms releases milestone documentary To Write Love

On June 11, 2026– Mental health non-profit To Write Love on Her Arms celebrates its 20th anniversary with the release of the new documentary TO WRITE LOVE. The films includes artists, advocates, and partners who helped make this non-profit organization succeed to be able to guide and help those who needed it the most throughout the years. I remember walking around Vans Warped Tour and seeing their booth constantly being surrounded by attendees that needed someone to listen to their stories. As a person who struggled with depression, self-isolation, and self harm and honestly never feeling like I didn’t have anyone to express my emotions to without them saying “get over it” and “life is not that hard“.

There’s an imbalance in your brain chemistry that sometimes causes this and as you continue your daily life still struggling; it truly does change your brain chemistry in my opinion. The trauma of feeling alone and letting the darkness consume you will only hinder your mind from finding the light, but at times, what else can we do when mental health when I was a teenager was something that was almost taboo? The second you spoke out about your emotions; you were either weird or they sent you to the hospital where people question you like you did something horrible. Mental health has always been a subject that most people don’t want to speak out about due to the stigma, but we all need someone to talk to. We need a safe place to be able to speak out and receive help that we need. And To Write Love on Her Arms is that organization.

TWLOHA has grown to be one of the most trusted and beloved voices in the alternative music scene, advocating for mental health services and hope for decades. The documentary weaves together conversations with some of the organization’s most influential supporters – including Paramore, Miley Cyrus, Anberlin, Switchfoot, and more – with the voices who work tirelessly every day to bring resources to those in need. You’ll hear from the voices that started it all, those whose lives were changed, and the dedicated individuals who continue to make honest conversations and accessible care possible decades later.

“We’re incredibly grateful to celebrate 20 years and to share the ongoing story of this movement. The documentary weaves together the voices of the people who kept fighting for this conversation, for their own stories, and for their communities. What you experience in this film is a true picture of what happens when thousands of people start to believe that it’s not weak to ask for help, and that sharing our stories gives others permission and courage to do the same.”

“This movement has played a significant part in why the conversations around mental health are no longer ones people feel they have to keep quiet. We made this documentary with the hope that it moves anyone still sitting in silence. We want people to know that hope is real, help is real, and your story matters.” Executive Director Lindsay Kolsch

This Fall, TWLOHA will host live watch parties with special guests who have played a role in their growth over the years, and are set to announce a screening house tour to activate and engage communities around the nation. Previously hosted livestream guests included Kevin Lyman, the founder of Vans Warped Tour. Their goal is to fund 20,000 hours of mental health care and therapy through peer support. Every screening hosted brings that goal closer to reality.
