New York City guitarist Hank Heaven returns with their latest single, “Thread,” along with a new music video directed by Weston Borg. Opening with a gritty guitar riff, the track shows the impact of a past relationship and the challenges with moving forward. Drawing from their past experiences with personal growth and sobriety, Hank delivered an emotionally charged performance that shows the tension between letting go and holding on.
The music video finds Hank training in a boxing gym, showing the determination that defines the new chapter of their career. Produced by Phil Weinrobe, the song features contributions from Sean Mullins on the drums, Adam Brisbin and Mike Halderman on the guitar, Nuria Graham on the bass, and Bobby Hawk on the violin.
Hank explains that “Thread” was written during a time where their memories of a past relationship were impossible to escape. Their everyday moments from doing laundry to walking through their neighborhood were constant reminders. Ultimately, this song was a way to release their feelings.
Before they became a solo artist, Hank had a reputation as a sought after touring and session guitarist, performing with artists including Samia, Del Water Gap, and Gus Dapperton. Their previous releases, the EP Call me Hank and 2024’s Loaded Dice, explored their identity, addiction, recovery, and self discovery with honesty and humor.
Hank continues that journey with “Thread” by embracing a fighters mindset while pushing their songwriting into a new and bold territory. The single offers an exciting preview into what’s next for one of indie music’s most compelling voices.
