Some concerts are remembered for the size of the crowd. Others are remembered because of the venue itself. Gracie’s ‘Miss Misfortunately‘ album release on June 26 was unforgettable because it had both.
Before I even stepped inside ‘The End‘, I noticed something that set the tone for the evening. Another fan complimented my head scarf after I noticed hers, and we exchanged a quick smile before going our separate ways. It was a small interaction, but it perfectly represented the welcoming community surrounding Gracie and her music. Complete strangers connected before anyone had played a single note.
The End Sets the Stage
Walking up to ‘The End‘, you’re greeted by a neighborhood that feels a little rough around the edges. The smell of marijuana lingered outside, and the surrounding streets didn’t exactly inspire confidence. Still, all of that disappeared the moment I stepped through the front doors.
Inside, I found one of the most charming venues I’ve visited in quite some time.
Every inch of The End tells a story. Stickers layered over stickers covered nearly every wall. Artist signatures, faded markings, and decades of music history surrounded the room. Looking closely, I spotted names like the Goo Goo Dolls, Tenacious D, Cage the Elephant, Tim McGraw, and Paramore. It served as a reminder that legendary careers don’t always begin inside arenas. Sometimes they begin in small venues exactly like this one.
The venue carried an unmistakable sense of nostalgia. Between the DIY aesthetic, the sticker-covered walls, and the intimate stage, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had somehow stepped into the world of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Even the crowd fit the atmosphere perfectly. Punk-inspired fashion, oversized bandanas, colorful hair, vintage clothing, and alternative styles filled the room before the first performance ever began.
One of my favorite details was the small photo booth tucked inside the venue. Decorated with shimmering tassels and soft clouds, it blended perfectly with the playful indie atmosphere surrounding Gracie’s album release.
When I first arrived, the room was fairly quiet. That didn’t last long.
Within minutes, fans flooded through the doors until every available inch of standing room had been claimed. I can’t say with certainty that the show sold out, but it certainly felt like it. By the time the lights dimmed, the venue was packed from front to back. Every corner buzzed with anticipation as everyone waited for the night to begin.

Ella Maddux Captivates the Crowd
Ella Maddux opened the evening with one of the most emotionally sincere performances I’ve experienced this year.
Armed with little more than an acoustic guitar and deeply personal songwriting, she immediately captured everyone’s attention. Her voice reminded me of Olivia Rodrigo, but it carried an even softer, lullaby-like quality that made every lyric feel intimate.
Most of her set consisted of original songs centered around complicated emotions, unspoken feelings, and relationships that exist somewhere between friendship and love. She didn’t rely on audience participation or ask the crowd to sing along. Instead, she earned something much more valuable—their complete attention.
The room fell almost completely silent.
Very few conversations happened during her performance because everyone seemed invested in the stories she was telling. That’s something not every opening artist can accomplish.
Her songwriting felt effortless. The emotion never felt forced or exaggerated. Every lyric came across as honest, making each song feel less like a performance and more like someone sharing pieces of their life.
They’re the kind of songs you save for late-night drives, quiet evenings, or the moments when you simply need music that understands exactly what you’re feeling.
If Ella Maddux isn’t already on your playlist, she deserves a place there.

Gracie Brings Miss Misfortunately to Life
The atmosphere inside changed the moment Gracie stepped onto the stage.
Backed by an incredibly tight band, she wasted no time filling the room with energy. The audience immediately matched that energy, singing along, cheering between songs, and celebrating every moment of the night. This wasn’t simply another concert. Everyone had gathered to celebrate the release of ‘Miss Misfortunately’, and you could feel just how much these songs already meant to the people packed inside the venue.
From the very first song, it became clear that ‘Miss Misfortunately‘ wasn’t built around one hit single. Instead, it tells a complete story. Every song contributes something different while fitting together as one cohesive body of work. Whether the music leaned into vulnerability, confidence, heartbreak, or pure attitude, every track had a purpose.
That’s what impressed me the most.
Rather than relying on one or two standout moments, Gracie delivered an album that feels complete from beginning to end. The audience’s reaction confirmed it. Fans weren’t simply hearing these songs live for the first time—they were celebrating them together.
Every Song Had Its Moment
While I genuinely enjoyed every song on ‘Miss Misfortunately’, a handful of tracks stayed with me long after I left the venue.
The title track, “Miss Misfortunately,” immediately stood out as one of the strongest moments of the night. There’s an emotional honesty woven throughout the song that feels impossible to ignore, and hearing it performed live gave it an entirely new level of impact. It perfectly captures the heart of the album and set the tone for everything that followed.
“Sucker” shifted the energy almost instantly. Its infectious attitude spread throughout the crowd, drawing everyone further into the performance. It was one of those songs where you couldn’t help but move along with the music, and the audience responded with the same excitement Gracie poured into every lyric.
Then came “Twenty Somethings,” one of the most relatable songs of the evening. It captures the uncertainty, growth, and emotional roller coaster that comes with trying to find your place in life. The vulnerability behind the lyrics resonated deeply, creating one of the night’s most memorable moments.
“Vendetta” brought another surge of energy to the set. The chemistry between Gracie and her band was undeniable, and that connection elevated the performance even further. Every musician played with confidence while allowing Gracie’s personality to remain at the center of the show.
Finally, “Evergreen” reminded everyone why Gracie’s songwriting continues to connect with so many listeners. Heartfelt and beautifully delivered, it showcased the emotional depth that runs throughout ‘Miss Misfortunately’. By that point in the evening, it had become clear that this album wasn’t built around one standout song—it succeeds because every track serves a purpose.
What impressed me most wasn’t simply the music itself. It was watching the audience experience these songs together.
Fans sang every lyric, celebrated every chorus, and embraced every emotional moment. That’s not something you can manufacture. It’s something an artist earns through authentic songwriting and genuine connection with the people who support them.
A Moment I’ll Never Forget
One of the biggest highlights of the night came when Gracie performed Paramore’s “All I Wanted.”
The moment she started singing, I honestly got chills.
Her voice sounded remarkably close to Hayley Williams’, and for a few minutes, I was transported back to my younger years. I found myself remembering long drives with Paramore blasting through the speakers and thinking about the first time I saw them perform live. It wasn’t just nostalgia—it was disbelief at how naturally Gracie stepped into such an iconic song.
What surprised me most wasn’t that she sang it well.
It was how effortlessly she made it her own while still honoring everything that makes the original so powerful. That’s a difficult balance to strike, but Gracie accomplished it beautifully. Instead of feeling like a tribute act, she delivered a performance that highlighted both her admiration for Paramore and her own identity as an artist.
If this performance is any indication of what’s ahead, I truly believe Gracie is destined for much bigger stages. Watching her command the room, connect with the audience, and perform with that level of confidence made it feel like I was witnessing the beginning of something much larger than a local album release.
More Than an Album Release
The music wasn’t the only thing that made the evening memorable.
Throughout the night, Gracie laughed with the audience, shared stories between songs, and created an environment that felt welcoming from beginning to end. There was never a moment where she felt distant from the crowd. Instead, it felt like everyone inside the venue was sharing the experience together.
The band’s chemistry also deserves recognition. Every musician brought incredible energy to the stage while giving Gracie the space to remain the focal point of the performance. They never overpowered the songs. Instead, they elevated them.
The lighting complemented every emotional shift throughout the evening, adding another layer to the performance without distracting from it. While the amount of stage smoke occasionally became a bit overwhelming, it still helped create an atmosphere that matched Gracie’s aesthetic and the emotion behind the music.
After the show, Gracie headed straight to the merch table instead of disappearing backstage.
She stayed to sign albums, take photos, hug fans, and personally thank everyone who came out to celebrate ‘Miss Misfortunately’. No one felt rushed through the line. Every conversation felt genuine, and every fan received the same care and attention. Watching those interactions made one thing abundantly clear: Gracie values the people who continue to support her music.
A Night Worth Remembering
I walked into The End expecting to enjoy another concert.
I walked out feeling like I had witnessed the beginning of something much bigger.
Ella Maddox introduced herself as an artist I’ll continue following, while Gracie proved that ‘Miss Misfortunately’ is far more than just another album release. It’s a powerful collection of songs that showcases her growth as both a songwriter and performer.
The album works because it feels complete. Rather than leaning on one breakout single, ‘Miss Misfortunately‘ tells a story through every track. Some songs hit harder than others depending on where you are in life, but together they create an album that feels honest, cohesive, and deeply personal. That’s a rare achievement.
Seeing those songs come to life on stage made the experience even more meaningful. The venue’s history, the overwhelming support from the crowd, and Gracie’s connection with her fans created an atmosphere that simply can’t be recreated through headphones alone.
If Gracie isn’t already on your radar, it’s time to change that.
‘Miss Misfortunately’ isn’t just an impressive debut of a new chapter—it’s a statement. If this album release showed us anything, it’s that Gracie has all the pieces in place to become one of the next artists people will be talking about long after these intimate venues can no longer hold the crowds that come to see her.
