Femmes of Rock is like if your favorite classic rock DJ said to you on the air grab a drink, sit back with your friends and close your eyes we are going back in a time machine and stopping at the 70’s then the 80’s and finish with the 90’s. This six-person group fronted by violinist Nina DeGregeo and flanked by Christina Rose, violinist and Sarah Caffee on cello never stop moving on stage. The Femmes of Rock brought their unique mix of every classic rock fan favorite from Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush the list goes on and on. They came to the mountain town of Ruidoso, New Mexico to open their current tour at the Spencer Theater.
Back in 2014 the band was approached by the Spencer Theater to see if they would be interested in performing in front of a theater audience. Prior to this, they were performing at corporate events and never thought of touring. They performed to a sold-out crowd and then returned in 2018 again to a sold-out crowd. It was exciting for them to come back in 2026. That was just the beginning of a full touring group traveling all over and bringing classic rock to every city.
The audience was a buzz with excitement as well as they filled in and took their seats. The age range was 8 to 80, and everyone clapped, danced, and sang along with every song they performed. Opening with a medley of AC/DC followed by a Rush Medley they could not be stopped as hit after hit was performed and mastered by a unique mix of violins, cello, guitars and drums. With each song the crowd just sucked it in, and the vibe was so electric. You were either bobbing your head or stomping your feet you just had to as the songs keep even the oldest alive remembering the first time; they heard that certain song. They honored Led Zepplin, Ozzy Osbourne, and many others; they would have been pleased with the band if they had been there. They closed out the night with a classic departing song from Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Freebird”.
